New York-based songwriter and producer John DeNicola won both an Academy Award® and Golden Globe® Award for writing "I've Had The Time Of My Life" from the twenty-million-selling original soundtrack to the massive hit film DIRTY DANCING (1987). DeNicola was also nominated for a Grammy® Award for co-writing "I've Had The Time Of My Life," and he was named "ASCAP Songwriter Of The Year" for his hit songs in the movie. He also co-wrote another massive hit single, the song "Hungry Eyes" for the "Dirty Dancing" soundtrack, which then reached Number 4 on the Billboard Singles Chart for recording artist Eric Carmen.
In addition to his "Dirty Dancing" hits for Bill Medley, Jennifer Warnes and Eric Carmen, DeNicola has written songs with and for Eddie Money, John Waite, Annie Haslam, Bernie Worrell, The Sighs, Martin Briley, and many new artists, including Canadian artist Sugar Jones, whose debut CD includes his song "A Little Bit of Heaven." The Sugar Jones CD on Universal went platinum. DeNicola is married with one son, and lives and works in Greenwich Village in New York City.
