Born in Melbourne, Austalia. Composer, conductor and orchestrator for British films (often in the horror genre), beginning with ONE WISH TOO MANY (1956). Other notable composing credits include THE ADMIRABLE CRICHTON, HIGH FLIGHT and FIRE DOWN BELOW (all 1957), DEATH OVER MY SHOULDER, GIDEON'S DAY, ANOTHER TIME, ANOTHER PLACE and tom thumb (all 1958), TARZAN'S GREATEST ADVENTURE and THE UGLY DUCKLING (both 1959), LIGHT UP THE SKY! amd THE CITY OF THE DEAD (both 1960), THE CANADIANS (1961), CARRY ON CRUISING (1962), THE HORROR OF IT ALL (1963), THE RETURN OF MR. MOTO (1965), THE CHRISTMAS TREE (1966), NIGHT AFTER NIGHT AFTER NIGHT (1969), SPRING AND PORT WINE (1970), AND NOW FOR SOMETHING COMPLETELY DIFFERENT (1971), TALES FROM THE CRYPT and ASYLUM (both 1972), THE VAULT OF HORROR and -- AND NOW THE SCREAMING STARTS! (both 1973), MADHOUSE and THE BEAST MUST DIE (both 1974), THE LAND THAT TIME FORGOT (1975), THE MONSTER CLUB (1980) and his last film, ENIGMA (1982). Gamley also acted as conductor, usually uncredited, for a number of music sound tracks.
