Born Manos Chadjidakis in Xanthi, Greece. One of the leading Greek composers of popular music, he wrote the scores for dozens of Greek and international films, including POTE TIN KYRIAKI (NEVER ON SUNDAY) 1960; THE 300 SPARTANS, 1962; NINE MILES TO NOON and AMERICA, AMERICA, both 1963; TOPKAPI, 1964; BLUE, 1968; DER FUßGÄNGER (THE PEDESTRIAN), 1973; and THE CLEARING, 1993.
