Charles Le Maire

LeMaire and his sketching assistant review designes for Demetrius and the Gladiators (1954) Born in Chicago, IL. A former vaudeville entertainer, he began creating wardrobes for Broadway shows in 1921, and subsequently designed costumes for The Ziegfeld Follies, George White's Scandals , and Earl Carroll Vanities , among other extravaganzas, and occasional silent films and early talkies. In the mid-1940s he joined 20th Century-Fox as executive designer and wardrobe director. Working mostly in collaboration, he shared three Academy Awards® and garnered 13 other Oscar® nominations.
