Katô graduated Tama University of Arts' graphic design course in 2001. He has won domestic prizes for animation with the works he created during his university period. After graduation, he joined Robot Communications (a Japanese character design team), where he has created various types of animations for TV programs, web animations and commercial films. His animated works include THE APPLE INCIDENT (2001), FANTASY STORY (2003), THE DIARY OF TORTOV RODDLE (an animation in 7 parts, 2004) and LA MAISON EN PETIT CUBES (2008), which won the top prize at the 2008 Annecy International Animated Film Festival.
